I hate calling myself a GI Joe fan. I LOVE GI Joe, but using a monicker than so many awful people also use makes me feel bad about myself.
I tend to think the vast majority of GI Joe collectors don't really have an appreciation for the brand but instead just have some mental disorder and GI Joe plays some role in it. I can't believe they actually like it the way a regular human enjoys and values their hobby.
You know, Tom, my wife and I were talking about this in regards to the thread about "Toys or the Wife". People were saying things like "Get rid of her, she can't change who you are!". For most of us, GI Joe isn't "who we are". Maybe for some of the real diehards it's a part of who they are, but not the majority of us. It's mostly something we do. And I think for many of us it's the manifestation of "who we are", and a mental disorder is highly likely. For some it might be an obsessive and/or compulsive disorder and others might have childhood/grown up issues they don't know how to deal with and thats why the nostalgia factor is so high for so many of us.
